In southern California there are many cities, and festivals and fairs, to choose from to either pass the time while waiting for a business meeting or just to peruse whilst on vacation. One such fair and festival include the Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival held late August through early September in Lancaster. Fairgoers can expect such entertaining offerings like concerts from various famous singers and groups, car races, demolition derbies and 'rural' Olympics. Hanford brings its residents a royal event each year, the King's Fair held in the middle of July. Other than exhibits and food booths, the King's Fair offers tractor pulls, animal shows, talent shows, and several music entertainers.
Made even more popular by the hit television show and a movie, Orange County holds a prestigious, almost month long fair. 2007 saw a cheese-themed fair with funfair rides and every year the theme changes. Of course, it wouldn't be California if there wasn't a short film festival from movie makers across the world. Held in Madera, the early September Madera District Fair includes, this year, a 'Walking with Lions', several different tagada rides and booths to visit as well as many good treats and eats to partake in. Probably the most known county in California is Los Angeles County, and they also throw a heck of a fair.
The fair is only on Wednesdays through Sundays throughout the month of September. There is also the International Wine and Spirits Competition, and boast to have the largest classroom with a fun Educational Fair.
